Drawing is the process that most closely reflects the thinking process. It has a plasticity that makes this action spontaneous, receptive and malleable. It is an image that is built up in response to the mark, shape or form that just preceded it. My works are a record of the thinking process and like a line on paper that has been erased it still remains a part of the image albeit faint such as a memory it influences the next mark we make and the final image as a whole.

I am interested in artwork that expresses shared values with the community that hosts the work and finds meaning in the context of place. In several instances the work of art can serve to inform the public and act as signage or landmark. Many of my projects incorporate functional elements, such as seating or lighting. My public works make use of a variety of durable materials from fiberglass colored concrete, ceramic tile to cast bronze and plastics with LED light and water. The ephemeral works in adobe are site specific and designed to weather back into the earth over a period of years. I view each situation as a new opportunity to create works that function as a catalyst for dialogue rather than a monologue. Color, bold forms and a keen sense of materials are some of the strategies that I employ to create work that evokes a positive experience.
I embrace collaborating with the community, other professionals and stakeholders in this unique endeavor.
